Support Is Available: Resources for Students Affected by Central Texas Flooding

Hello Tigers,
The recent storms and flooding across Central Texas have caused significant disruption, stress, and uncertainty for many of our fellow Texans. For students and families impacted by this tragedy, please know that you have the full support of our campus community. We know this has been a significant event, so we wanted you to be aware of available resources to support your mental wellness:
University Counseling Center: Currently enrolled students can access in-person and virtual counseling services through the University Counseling Center, located in the Student Health Center behind the Bell Building. Both individual and group sessions are available Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00pm. Please call 713-313-7804 for more information or to schedule an in-person session. Support is also available 24 hours a day – 7 days a week (24/7) by calling 713-313-7863.
Online Resources: Shmoody is a free wellness app available for Texas Southern students offering quick tools to de-stress and support your mental health. Available for download from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
Houston-area Resources: The Harris Center Crisis Line is available 24/7 at 713-970-7000.
National Resources: The National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline can be accessed 24/7 by texting or calling 988. The Disaster Distress Helpline offers free 24/7 support from trained counselors by calling 1-800-985-5990. To connect to mental health resources in your area, call 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
Community resources or disaster relief: Contact the Texas 211 Helpline by dialing 211.
