Texas Southern University’s School of Communication to Host 44th Annual CommWeek
The School of Communication at Texas Southern University will host its 44th Annual Media and Communication Conference (CommWeek) from April 6–10, 2026, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Building on the university’s campus.
The weeklong conference serves as a platform for scholars, students, industry professionals, and civic leaders to explore critical issues shaping today’s media landscape. This year’s theme, “Beyond the Algorithm: Reimagining Media, Learning & Innovation with AI,” places artificial intelligence at the center of conversations about the future of journalism, entertainment, digital storytelling, and communication education as the use of AI continues to expand.
The panels, workshops, and networking events will examine how AI technologies are transforming media business models, redefining teaching methods, and enhancing audience engagement.
According to Dean, Dr. Alan K Caldwell, “Communication Week represents more than a conference; it is a powerful platform to strengthen the School of Communication’s brand, showcasing the excellence of our students and faculty, and the opportunity to highlight the innovative work happening across our programs.”
“By bringing together industry leaders, scholars, and alumni, we create collaborative connections that positions our school as a hub for forward-thinking communication education,” Caldwell said.
CommWeek also serves as a vital opportunity to raise scholarship funds to support students, particularly gifted and economically disadvantaged students. The financial support helps reduce financial barriers, cover tuition and educational resources, offset living expenses, and promote student retention and academic success.
