Texas Southern University Homecoming: Honoring Traditions, Building the Future

Each fall, Texas Southern University becomes the heartbeat of Houston as it welcomes thousands of alumni, students, faculty, and supporters for its time-honored Homecoming celebration. In 2025, the tradition continues, bigger, bolder, and more meaningful than ever.

More than just a series of events, Homecoming at Texas Southern University is a celebration of heritage, pride, and progress. It’s a space where legacy and future meet: alumni reconnect, current students lead, and the community unites around a shared commitment to Black excellence and higher education. Sponsors, partners, and Tiger family members came together to empower student initiatives and foster community engagement. 

Signature Traditions You Don’t Want to Miss

As always, TSU’s cherished traditions anchor the week’s festivities:

• The Homecoming Parade, where the Ocean of Soul marching band sets the tempo for celebration and pride. Spectators lined the sidewalks, eagerly awaiting glimpses of the Student Government Association (SGA) members proudly representing their fellow students.
  
• Tiger Walk, a revitalized symbol of TSU’s past and future.
  
• Tailgating, the all-day, all-community affair that blends food, music, and fellowship across campus.
  
• Alumni Reunions and Worship Services, grounding the experience in connection and community.
  

How to Make the Most of It

Whether it’s your first TSU Homecoming or not, a few essentials will elevate your experience:

• Start hydrating early (trust us).
  
• Plan your outfits and RSVPs in advance, last-minute won’t cut it.
  
• Pack a lawn chair, portable charger, and your best Tiger spirit.
  
• Schedule your trip to Frenchy’s Chicken, some things are non-negotiable.
  
• Know your limits, in all things (tailgating, late nights, and weekend brunches).
  
• And most importantly: take Monday off. You’ll thank yourself.
