Texas Southern University Hosts Inaugural ‘Tiger Chat’ Featuring President Crawford and Student Leaders

Texas Southern University marked a significant milestone on Tuesday morning with the debut of Tiger Chat: Conversations That Inspire, a new discussion series designed to spark dialogue between university leadership and the Texas Southern community.

Held in the main hall of the University Museum, the inaugural, invitation-only event brought together Texas Southern President James W. Crawford III and a panel of distinguished student leaders for a candid, fireside-style conversation. The event also commemorated the one-year anniversary of President Crawford’s installation as the university’s fourteenth president.

The discussion touched on topics ranging from the student experience and university priorities to broader conversations about leadership, equity in education, and Texas Southern’s growing role as a national model for urban research institutions.

“We are proud to welcome the community to this inaugural event. The Tiger Chat series starts as it should – by featuring our outstanding student leaders. We look forward to drawing in more community members so that we can highlight and celebrate contributions and achievements and all that makes Texas Southern University the outstanding institution it is,” said President Crawford.

With the success of its first event, Texas Southern plans to continue the Tiger Chat series, offering future opportunities for engagement and collaboration across campus and the broader Houston community.
