KTSU-FM General Manager Invited to Join the Recording Academy
With more than 35 years of leadership in the music, broadcasting, media, and entertainment industries, Ernest Walker, General Manager of KTSU at Texas Southern University, has been invited to join the Recording Academy, the organization behind the GRAMMY Awards, as a member of its 2026 New Member Class. Membership is extended by invitation to accomplished music creators and industry professionals whose achievements have made a significant impact on the recording industry.
Throughout his music career, Walker has worked with many of the industry’s most respected and influential artists across genres, including: Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Barry White, The Temptations, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, Jennifer Holliday, Kirk Franklin, Donald Lawrence, Regina Belle, Lyle Lovett, Kirk Whalum, Clay Walker, Chanté Moore, and more.
Walker joined KTSU 90.9 FM in 2016 with a vision to transform the station into a premier public media organization that advances the mission of Texas Southern through education, innovation, community engagement and experiential learning. Under his leadership, KTSU’s audience has grown by more than 60-percent.
As a member of the Recording Academy, Walker will become part of the professional voting body that helps determine the recipients of the GRAMMY Awards.
This national recognition reflects Walker’s distinguished career of advancing music, developing talent, producing award-winning projects, and building meaningful partnerships across the entertainment industry.
His selection further elevates the national profile of Texas Southern University and KTSU 90.9 FM while creating opportunities to engage with leading artists, producers, executives, and music professionals, strengthening industry relationships that can benefit students through experiential learning, mentorship, and strategic collaborations.
