Board of Regents Approves Operation Tiger Reset to Strengthen Operations and Accountability at Texas Southern University
Today, the Texas Southern University Board of Regents approved Operation Tiger Reset, a comprehensive 100-day Action Plan designed to achieve full operational compliance, stabilize critical infrastructure, and finalize leadership structures no later than May 1, 2026. The operation was developed by the Audit Response Committee, an ad hoc committee established in response to the recent audit completed by the Texas State Auditor’s Office, in collaboration with University administration.
Operation Tiger Reset provides a focused, time-bound, execution-focused and outcomes-driven roadmap for corrective action, institutional accountability, and continuous improvement across the University’s most critical operational areas.
Key elements of Operation Tiger Reset include:
- Establishing clear accountability, timelines, and ownership for addressing every audit finding.
- Strengthening financial controls, procurement processes, and internal oversight to safeguard public resources.
- Focusing on continuity of leadership to increase capacity and ensure consistent decision-making.
“The approval of Operation Tiger Reset reflects this Board’s commitment to strong governance and responsible stewardship,” said Board of Regents Chairman James Benham. “This plan sets clear expectations, firm deadlines, and measurable actions to address the audit findings and strengthen the University’s long-term success.”
“This plan reflects a unified approach between the Board of Regents and University Administration,” said Regent Lauren Gore, Chair of the Audit Response Committee. “Operation Tiger Reset establishes clear actions, clear ownership, and clear timelines to correct deficiencies and strengthen the University’s operations.”
University leadership is already executing Operation Tiger Reset and providing weekly reports to the Audit Response Committee.
