Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul Marching Band Performs with Beyoncé in NFL Halftime Show

Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul Marching Band took center stage on Christmas, joining global icon Beyoncé during her high-profile NFL halftime performance at NRG Stadium. The Grammy-winning artist headlined the Texans-Ravens game on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in a performance broadcast by Netflix and watched by millions nationwide.

Nearly 200 members of the Ocean of Soul participated in the 12-minute halftime show, performing alongside Beyoncé as she delivered selections from her 2024 album, Cowboy Carter. The set included “16 CARRIAGES,” “BLACKBIIRD,” “YA YA,” “LEVII’S JEANS,” “JOLENE,” and the chart-topping anthem “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM.”

“A Christmas Like No Other! The Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul joins forces with Beyoncé for an unforgettable NFL Halftime Performance. TSU is shining brighter than ever,” the band shared in an Instagram post.

Texas Southern University, located in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston, has a long-standing tradition of excellence in music, culture, and performance. The Ocean of Soul is widely recognized for its precision, power, and showmanship — qualities that were on full display during this once-in-a-generation collaboration.

In addition to Texas Southern’s marching band, the halftime show featured appearances by artists Post Malone, Shaboozey, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, and Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who joined as a dancer.

If you missed the performance, you can watch the “Beyoncé Bowl” on Netflix.
