By Texas Southern Student Leaders Visit Apple and Google, Explore Career Paths
Texas Southern University student leaders recently visited Apple’s historic Infinity Loop campus in Cupertino, California, gaining firsthand insight into careers in the tech industry. The visit, coordinated by Brandon L. Simmons, Chairman of the Texas Southern University Board of Regents, included students from all majors and class years.
The day began with a tour of the Infinity Loop campus, the site where Steve Jobs worked during his time at Apple, guided by Finance Analyst, Lorenzo Cancel. Students explored the campus before attending a panel discussion and lunch with Apple employees.
The panel featured a mix of Apple professionals sharing their career journeys and advice. Panelists discussed topics ranging from infrastructure and management to finance and diversity. Emmanuel Morales, Apple’s Infrastructure Services Finance Manager, and Lupita Garcia-Reilley, Inclusion and Diversity Program Manager, highlighted the value of taking initiative and building strong relationships.
Garcia-Reilley encouraged students to “own your own career,” while Morales reminded them, “you’re going to get more out of saying yes than not.” Panelists also offered guidance on navigating early career challenges, noting, “you don’t know it now but you’ll figure it out.”
Following the Apple visit, the group toured Google, gaining an inside look at the tech giant’s facilities.
