Ocean of Soul Lights Up Texans Halftime

Sunday’s matchup at NRG Stadium between the Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers was memorable not only because of the Texans’ 26–15 victory, but also due to the outstanding halftime performance by Ocean of Soul, Texas Southern’s Marching Band.

The hometown crowd enjoyed a solid game from the  Texans against San Francisco. Despite the absence of Nico Collins —Texans’ top receiver—, the offense delivered by the  Texans was like no other.  Quarterback C. J. Stroud stole the show, throwing for 318 yards and two touchdowns.

While the Texans handled business on the field, Texas Southern University “Ocean of Soul” Marching Band took center stage during halftime, delivering a show that showcased Houston talent.

Representing Texas Southern, Ocean of Soul filled the stadium with energy, cheerful spirit and school pride. Their powerful driving percussion and dynamic choreography brought everyone to their feet.

Fans couldn’t hide their excitement, praising both the team and the band’s performance. “Whew my Texans leading after the half! Motion and the Ocean of soul for half time!! A beautiful Sunday!,” wrote user SashaGlam on X.

Following the performance, the band shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing:

“The Texas Southern University ‘Ocean of Soul’ Marching Band is sincerely grateful to the Houston Texans organization for the opportunity of performing for their halftime against the San Francisco 49ers. This opportunity was a chance for us to not only represent Greater Houston, but to showcase the many reasons why Texas Southern University is so special. Your hospitality and support has offered our students an unforgettable experience and a moment of true pride.”

The appearance marked another major milestone for the historic marching band, whose performances continue to inspire students, alumni, and the Greater Houston community alike.
