Health Studies Major Caris Guyden Earns Salutatorian Honors
Caris Guyden is Texas Southern University’s salutatorian for the fall 2025 graduating class. The Atlanta native majored in health studies.
“It means everything. To see my hard work and dedication pay off and be acknowledged is beyond rewarding for me,” Guyden said.
While attending Texas Southern, Guyden served on the Tigers’ athletic training staff, gaining hands-on experience in her field.
“The coursework has shaped and built a strong academic foundation that helped me deepen my understanding of healthcare and how to promote and achieve community wellness,” she said.
In addition to her academic studies, Guyden was an active member of Collegiate 100. She credits her time in Tigerland for molding her both personally and professionally.
“My time at Texas Southern University has shaped me into a woman I can be proud of. It’s given me exactly what I’ve been looking for—growth, connection, and constant learning and adapting,” she said.
As she seeks the next step in her career, Guyden is eager to give back to the spaces that helped shape who she is today.
“I just really want to be able to empower my community, serve as a leader, and be an advocate and representation for people who need it most,” Guyden said.
Congrats to Caris!
