C. Gabriel Hayes Named Chairman of the Jesse H. Jones School of Business Advisory Council

The Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University announces the appointment of C. Gabriel Hayes, MBA, as Chairman of its Advisory Council (BAC).

A distinguished financial services executive and accomplished alumnus of the School, Hayes brings more than two decades of senior leadership experience spanning institutional asset management, consultant relations, and the retirement and workplace benefits markets. He currently serves as Vice President and Sales Director at Voya Financial, where he oversees institutional sales strategy and consultant engagement across a 12-state territory.

Recognized as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, plan sponsors, and global consulting firms, Hayes has built his career on driving growth through strategic partnerships, market expansion, and collaborative execution. His expertise includes institutional sales leadership, enterprise business development, retirement solutions, and consultant relations strategy. Known for his ability to align stakeholders around a shared vision, he has cultivated long-term partnerships that enhance client retention and stimulate new business growth.

Hayes’ professional background also reflects a deep commitment to higher education and institutional advancement. He previously served in senior leadership roles at Clark Atlanta University, including Vice President of Philanthropy and Chief Operating Officer of Institutional Advancement, where he led major gift cultivation efforts and organizational transformation initiatives.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Louisiana Tech University.

As Chairman of the BAC, Hayes will provide strategic counsel to the Dean and School leadership, strengthen corporate and alumni engagement, and support initiatives that advance student success, innovation, and industry relevance. His collaborative leadership style, data-driven approach, and unwavering commitment to excellence position him to help further elevate the School’s mission and impact.

Jones School of Business Advisory Council is composed of 33 distinguished business leaders and alumni who offer strategic guidance, foster industry partnerships, and support the School’s vision of preparing ethical, global business leaders equipped to compete in a dynamic marketplace. By providing strategic, operational, and financial guidance to the dean, the council helps advance the school’s goals.
