Ocean of Soul Returns to the Field for 2025 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands
By Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul marching band is set to perform on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands, a major cultural event hosted at Houston’s NRG Stadium. As one of eight elite HBCU bands selected, Ocean of Soul will represent Texas Southern in front of a hometown crowd during a weekend that celebrates music, tradition, and community.
The three-day event, produced by Webber Marketing and presented by Pepsi, kicks off Friday, August 22, with the Emerging Experience Entrepreneur Conference, followed by Saturday’s main showcase and the NBOTB Cares community initiative. Participating bands also include Florida A&M’s Marching 100, Jackson State’s Sonic Boom of the South, and Prairie View A&M’s Marching Storm, among others. The National Battle of the Bands has awarded nearly $1.7 million in scholarships since its founding and continues to uplift HBCU talent through high-energy performances and cultural showcases.
